„All the stories are true.“
The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare has been my favorite book series of all time since the first book came out in 2006/2007. I’ve been in love with it for so many years now and I was so glad when they announced that there was going to be a TV show.
I already liked the movie to be honest. I liked it a lot actually – I still don’t get why so many people hated it. I was hoping for a second movie so bad but unfortunately it never happend. So of course I am excited for the show. I am so glad that it was given a second chance. And unlike so many others, I like the show already.
I think the show has a lot of potential. I don’t think the acting was bad, I actually think that they all did a great job so far. Of course there is room for improvement but it was only the first episode and there is always room for improvement. Of course the actors need to get used to their roles and this might take a couple of episodes and considering that for some of them it’s their first real acting job they did a really good job.
Also we have to keep in mind that it’s a low budget production so we can’t expect a oscar winning TV show – at least not yet 😉 I am not a very sophisticated person when it comes to movies or TV shows. Don’t get me wrong, of course I like good movies and TV shows but honestly? Even if it’s cheesy or whatever I might like it. I don’t care about the changes they’ve made so far, I don’t care about Clary’s hair not having the perfect shade of red, I don’t care about Luke being a cop instead of working in a book store and I definitely don’t care about Dom maybe not being as handsome as Jace was described in the books. I just don’t mind. I actually liked the changes. It was fun and exciting and entertaining. I’m just not that kind of person who starts complaining if the actors might now carry every line perfectly. When I watch a show I want it to be fun and interesting and Shadowhunters definitely is all of that.
There will always be people out there who don’t like certain things. That’s just natural. But what really annoys me is that it seems like people want this show to be bad. From the very beginning they told us that they’ve changed a couple of things and that they didn’t fully stick to the books. So we all knew that it wasn’t going to be a exact replica of the books. So why do people keep complaining about the changes? Guess what? They told us! Why can’t you appreciate their work and support them?
A new TV show needs some time to get really good. How can people tell from only one episode that this is going to be a bad show? All you’ve seen so far was the pilot (and maybe the second episode if you have the Freeform app) but that’s it. Just remember Buffy and The Vampire Diaries and how much people disliked the first couple of episodes. Today both shows are two of the most beloved TV shows ever.
I don’t understand why people have to be so hateful and mean all the time. How would you feel if someone would call you a „piece of crap“ or whatever? Or tell you that you suck at your job? You could at least try to find nicer words. That is just not cool. If you don’t like it, that’s fine. If you don’t like it, don’t watch it. So why even bother and make others feel bad?
I loved the first episode. I really did. I am hooked already and I can’t wait to watch all the upcoming episodes. I’m sure it will get better and better and I am so excited to see where it goes. I just hope there are enough people out there who like it and who are going to watch it no matter what so that we have many more episodes and seasons to be excited for.
I can’t wait to see the show grow, see the characters develop and for sure I can’t wait to see Malec. Malec is life; they are my forever OTP and I can’t wait to see Malec come to life. I’m very much excited for all the upcoming episodes and I really really hope that people give it a chance. Don’t be so judgemental. Be nice, watch the show, enjoy it and for christs sake stop hating! 😉
So how did you like the pilot?
