Clary Fray just wishes that her life would go back to normal. But what’s normal when you’re a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries? If Clary left the world of the Shadowhunters behind, it would mean more time with her best friend, Simon, who’s becoming more than a friend. But the Shadowhunting world isn’t ready to let her go — especially her handsome, infuriating, newfound brother, Jace. And Clary’s only chance to help her mother is to track down rogue Shadowhunter Valentine, who is probably insane, certainly evil — and also her father.

To complicate matters, someone in New York City is murdering Downworlder children. Is Valentine behind the killings – and if he is, what is he trying to do? When the second of the Mortal Instruments, the Soul-Sword, is stolen, the terrifying Inquisitor arrives to investigate and zooms right in on Jace. How can Clary stop Valentine if Jace is willing to betray everything he believes in to help their father?

The Mortal Instruments series is my favorite book series of all time. If I could I would rate it with 50 stars or even 100. One of my favorite things about City of Ashes is that, since City of Bones was mainly concentrated on Clary, we now got to see what all the other characters were doing. There are several point of views which I absolutely liked since it gives you the opportunity to get to know all the other characters better, which is a good thing since Cassandra’s characters are all amazing. I don’t even know where to start I mean my favorites will always be Alec and Magnus but all the other characters are also incredible.

And so was the plot, obviously! I just couldn’t stop reading. I lost track on how many times I’ve read the books already but it gets better every time I reread it. I just loved all the action, the demons and I guess I am not just highly obsessed with the books themselves (or the characters) but also with the runes. I already got a rune tattooed like two years ago and I definitely want another one very soon. Wouldn’t it be cool if runes existed in real life? To have one that would heal you or make you go faster and such? I would totally love that but I’d love to be a shadowhunter anyway haha

Another thing I love so much about Cassandra Clare and her books is her humor and the dialogues, especially the ones between Jace and Alec and Magnus. They are hilarious, Cassandra Clare is hilarious and so are her characters. I will always love her for creating all these amazing characters, especially Magnus. He’s my personal hero; my No 1 favorite male character ever and of course Alec and Magnus are my absolute OTP.

Unbenannt-1

I am so obsessed with this world and I’d so love to live in it. And the fact that the books are set in New York makes it even better. I’ve visited so many places already that were mentioned in the books it made me squeak and so did all the scenes with Alec and Magnus. I know I’ve mentioned that before but I just love them so much I could probably write a whole book about how much I love them.

I really don’t know what more to say. Cassandra Clares writing style is beyond amazing. She’s my favorite author of all time and she inspires me with her work every day. By the angel, I wish this world was real – stupid mundane world haha why can’t we just all be shadowhunters? Even though I already read this book so so many times I am speechless all over again.

So if you haven’t read the books yet please please please make sure to pick them up as soon as possible because if you don’t you will definitely miss on something. The books are amazing, full of action, love, drama, fun, adventures … I am so much in love with these books I can’t even.
