Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems. Something worse than the Arum has come to town… The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we’re linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there’s this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that’s possible. Against all common sense, I’m falling for Daemon. Hard. But then everything changes… I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me? No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

eI know many of you are probably going to hate me for saying this but I think this is one of the worst books I’ve ever read in my entire life. As you may remember, I didn’t like the first book much, but still rated it two stars. I tried again with the second book because 1. my mom got me the book as a gift, 2. some people on Instagram I very much adore love these books and 3. the German book covers are gorgeous as hell. I really wanted to give this series another chance but unfortunately I was sadly disappointed – again.

The characters have almost no development from one book to the next maybe except for Daemon. To be honest, Daemon was the only reason I kept reading. There was basically no plot existent in the first half of the book. There was just Katy being annoying as hell. And then there was Blake. And Dee, and Adam, and everyone else – they were all so boring. I mean seriously, I couldn’t connect with anyone of the characters because they all seemed so dumb and superficial and annoying and I basically didn’t like anyone except for Daemon. Daemon is hot stuff to be honest.

Even though the action is pretty well described, it could be a lot better written. I didn’t like the writing at all. I also couldn’t get rid of the feeling that this book was only some sort of fan fiction, a twilight fan fiction to be exact. And I hate that I didn’t like it. The German book covers are stunning and I love aliens so much, and also Daemon. Can we just push Katy of a cliff please? Maybe I would enjoy the books much better then.

To be honest – I have absolutely no idea if I even want to go on with the series, I heard good things and bad things but then again they have these amazing German book covers. As you can see, the struggle is real. I’m actually worried that there’s something wrong with me because basically everyone rated it with 4 or more stars. I mean how? What did I miss?

I am very sorry and I really don’t want to offend anyone but I can only rate this book with two stars. Because of Daemon and the book covers, otherwise I would have rated it one star probably.
